Capdolia M. “Cappy” Detrixhe, 87, of Russell, died on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at her home in Russell.
Capdolia was born on July 31, 1923 in Ames, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Steinhauer) Goernandt. She grew up in the Ames and Cloud County area and graduated from Ames High School. After high school she attended Kansas State University for 3 years majoring in Home Economics. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Alden Benjamin Detrixhe on August 14, 1944 in San Francisco, California. From this union, Cappy and Alden were blessed with two sons, Stan and Gene. Alden preceded her in death on July 18, 2008. Cappy loved being a homemaker, with taking care of her family and home being the most important things in life. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. Cappy enjoyed a variety of things in life such as crocheting, knitting, puzzles, crafts, the Christmastide and was an avid reader. Her children will always remember her as a wonderful cook and for her love of cooking. Most of all she will be remembered for the love and passion for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving family include her sons Stan A. Detrixhe and wife Mary Hart of rural Hays, Kansas and Gene C. Detrixhe and wife Mary of Russell, Kansas; grandchildren Tasha, Miles, Rena, Tim and Emma; great grandchildren Lilina, Ella, Jack, Julietta and Adalie.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Louise Lingo.
A memorial service to celebrate Cappy’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel in Russell with Pastor Amy Austin officiating. Cremation has preceded the services and there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the Russell Food Pantry and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
