Hester Lorraine (Milberger) Peck, 89, of Bunker Hill, Kansas died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Main Street Manor in Russell.
Hester was born November 21, 1921 in Russell County to Jacob E. Milberger and Carrie (Strecker) Milberger. She was raised on a rural farm and attended school at Russell High School. After marriage to Ralph G. Peck on August 3, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church, she resided in Bunker Hill, Kansas. They shared over 63 years of marriage and raised five children.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #228 for 68 years and also a member of the Dorrance EHU Homemakers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Peck; one son, Frank Peck; son in law, Verne Rogg; grandson, Eric Rogg; brothers, Ralph Milberger and Jake Milberger Jr.; and sister, Shirley Woods
Hester worked in different jobs in Russell with the last position as hostess for the Ramada Inn. She enjoyed yard work and kept her flowers blooming. She had smiles for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hester is survived by her children: Sandra Rogg of Russell, Kansas; Curtis Peck and his wife Mary of Wichita; Dr. Roger Peck and wife Norma of Manhattan, KS; Lauree Johnson and husband Ron of Ellis; sister Carol Bennett and spouse Reginald; sister in laws Pat Peck of Bunker Hill and Fern Whatley of Monroe, Louisiana; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service for Hester will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas with Pastor Earl Haggard officiating. Cremation has preceded the service and inurnment of the ashes will follow the graveside service. An Order of the Eastern Star service will immediately follow the memorial service at the graveside.
Family and friends may sign the guest book from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Bunker Hill Museum and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service arrangements.
