Henrietta Ann Wenthe, 63 of Russell, Kansas died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.
Henrietta was born March 20, 1950 in Lucas, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence H.R. and Violet B. (Reh) Wenthe. She grew up in Lucas and graduated from Lucas High School in 1968. She then attended the Salina Beauty Academy in 1969. She then started working for the Thouvenelle Beauty Shop in Russell. Henry then started her own Beauty Salon in Russell over 30 years ago.
Henrietta served her community as Mayor of Russell from 1999 to 2005 and was Citizen of the Year in 2011. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Lucas, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Lucas, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Russell, Russell County Fair Board, Russell Arts Council and Dream Theater Board. She loved volunteering for any activity that helped children and was a “Step Mom” to many children in Russell. She was a kind hearted lady that will be missed by many.
Henrietta’s surviving family include her sister, Teresa Erbert of Lucas, Kansas and her children Heather Meyer and husband Toby and Heath Erbert; sister, Connie Hudson and husband Deone of Sharon Springs, Kansas and their children Jill Hudson and Cauy Hudson and wife Hailey; brother Lawrence Wenthe and wife Sue of Lucas, Kansas and their daughter Katy Wenthe; 11 great nieces and nephews; aunts; uncle and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Cole Hudson.
Celebration of Henrietta’s Life will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Fossil Creek Dole/Specter Center in Russell. Cremation has preceded the services. Friends may sign the book at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary from 9 AM to 5 PM on Friday. Memorials have been established with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lucas and the Dream Theater in Russell.
