Rischel “Rikki” Mary Kay Betts, 59, of Antonino, Kansas, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas.
Rikki was born on January 08, 1956, in Colby, Kansas, the daughter of Richard James Stevenson and Carolyn Louise Chaffin. She grew up in the Colby area and graduated from Colby High School in 1974. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Alan L. Betts on August 08, 1996 in Antonino, Kansas. She worked as the office manager for Alan L. Betts LSCSW, LLC for many years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and a proud member of A.A. She enjoyed carving limestone rocks, gardening, sky diving, zip lining and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving family include her husband Alan of the home, daughters Sarah Wamser and husband Paul of Gardner, Kansas and Jodi Brazda and husband Branden of Hays, Kansas; step son Josh Betts and wife Stacy of Tyler, Texas; sisters Susan Kear and husband Dan of Ft. Lupton, Colorado and Reenie West and husband Randy of Wichita, Kansas and 4 grandchildren Brayden, Brylee and Brystal Wamser and Keenan Brazda.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother Mildred Goke.
A celebration of Rikki's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Dorrance City Cemetery in Dorrance, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 5:30 P.M. to 7 P.M. Sunday evening. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 P.M. at the mortuary immediately following the family greeting Sunday night. Memorials may be given to the Norton Valley Hope Association and sent in care of the mortuary. Immediately following the graveside service the family will have a reception at the First Lutheran Church of Dorrance. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
