William J. "Bill" Lawson, 76, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at his home in Russell.

Bill was born on April 13, 1940, in Plainville, Kansas, the son of William and Tillie (Pollock) Lawson.  He grew up in the Plainville area and graduated from Plainville High School.  He lived in Hays and Manhattan, Kansas, and moved to Russell in 2010.  He was a self employed heating and air conditioning specialist and was known for being the man to call if you needed a spare part or special tool.  He enjoyed working with his hands, fixing broken machines and a jack of all trades.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children.

Surviving family include his daughter Diana Melody of Wilmington, Delaware and son Derek Lawson in Wichita, Kansas.

Cremation was selected by the family.  No services are scheduled at this time and may be held at a later date.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
