Douglas Henry Langhofer, 47 of Russell, Kansas passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Doug was born August 5, 1969 in Russell, the son of Dwight John Langhofer and Mary Lois Boxberger. He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School with the Class of 1987. Doug then attended Fort Hays State University.
Doug met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Gina Tomasino on October 23, 1993 in Russell. This union was blessed with two daughters, Lacie and Laura. They made their home in Russell.
Doug worked for the City of Russell in the water department for many years before working for Kansas Rural Water Association. He then returned to the City of Russell as the Superintendent of the Water Department for over nine years. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the Russell Masonic Lodge and the Isis Shrine of Salina. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching Kansas University, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Chicago Cubs. But, most of all, he loved driving around with the family Labradors, Chelsea and Chevy and getting slushies with his girls.
Surviving family include his wife of 23 years, Gina of the home; daughters, Lacie Langhofer and Laura Langhofer both of Russell, Kansas; parents, Dwight and Carol Langhofer of Russell, Kansas; brother, Matt Langhofer of Russell, Kansas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary from Noon to 8:00 PM with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Memorial has been established as the Langhofer Education Fund. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
