Linda Sue Martin, 60, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas
Linda was born on Monday, May 28, 1951, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of A. B. and Jerri (Grant) Martin. She grew up and attended school in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1969. She was married to Jim Miller on June 23, 1973, and from this union they had a son Michael. Jim preceded her in death on December 4, 1986. Prior to Jimís death, she helped Jim with his pest exterminating business. She was a former owner of the Sun Flower Bar and also worked tending bar at the Russell American Legion Post #99. She was a member of the Russell V.FW. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post #99 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, bingo and puzzles. She was very passionate about her Indian heritage and her cat Cuddles. She also loved spending time with family and close friends.
She is survived by her son Michael Miller and wife Lisa of Pinedale, Wyoming; her brother Terry Martin and wife Marsha of Collinsville, Oklahoma; her grandchildren; her best friend and caregiver Debbie Fabian of Russell, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jim.
A memorial service to celebrate Lindaís life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Family will greet guests before and after the memorial service. There will be no viewing because cremation has been selected by the family. A private inurnment of the cremains will take place later that day at the Russell City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Linda S. Martin Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
