Evelyn E. Trapp, 98 of Salina, Kansas and formerly of Waldo, Kansas died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Kenwood View Nursing Home in Salina, Kansas.
Evelyn was born March 9, 1913 in Waldo, Kansas the eldest daughter of James E. and Edith (Crosby) Bean. Evelyn attended grade school and graduated from Waldo High School in 1931. She also attended nursing school and Brown Mackie Business School in Salina. She was a bookkeeper for the J.I. Case dealership in Salina for a short period of time.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Lyle C. Trapp on August 5, 1939 at Beverly, Kansas. Evelyn and Lyle moved to a farm south of Waldo where she was a homemaker and participated in the family farm operations for over 63 years until Lyleís death on March 29, 2003.
Evelyn was a member of the Waldo Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and extension home demonstration unites from Hornview, Amherst, Waldo, Jolly Janes and Paradise Dell for over 60 years. She was an excellent cook, loved working in her garden, sewing and crocheting.
Surviving family include her sons, John Trapp of Salina, Kansas and James Trapp and wife Carol of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Scott Trapp (Tracy) and Wendy Murphy (Ryan) all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great grandchildren Bradigan Murphy and Maggie Murphy; and sister Ana Marie McAllister of Sterling, Colorado.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Emmit Bean and sisters Margaret Gradalin and Arabell Olson
Celebration of Evelynís Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Interment will follow in the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. A memorial has been established with the Waldo United Methodist Church and can be sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
