Rolland A. Ehrlich, 95 of Russell died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.
Rolland was born on July 24, 1916 on the family farm in south Russell County, the son of George C. and Mary E. (Eichman) Ehrlich. He grew up on the family farm helping his dad.
Rolland was united in marriage to Mildred Glynn on April 10, 1938 in the Great Bend Lutheran Church in Great Bend, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children; Larry, Donald, Karen and Barbara. Rolland and Mildred made their home in Russell County.
Rolland was a farmer and rancher most of his life. He continued working on the family farm. When he was younger he worked for J.W. Blair Furniture Stone as a manager, then Eichman Appliance Store also as a manager. Then he also worked for Skelly Oil for many years as a pumper.
Rolland was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors especially when he was fishing and hunting. He was a kind hearted man that was always willing to help a friend.
Surviving family include his wife of 73 years, Mildred of the home; son Larry G. Ehrlich of Westwood Hills, Kansas; daughters, Karen Caylor of Russell, Kansas and Barbara Edwards (Tim) of Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren, Mark, Kristin, Jennifer and Tracy; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Donald, son-in-law Melvin Caylor and great granddaughter Lori Ann.
Celebration of Rollandís Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening. A memorial has been established with St. John Lutheran Church. Contributions and condolences may be sent in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary who is in charge of these arrangements.
