Isetta E. (Tittel) Murphy, 84 of Russell died Sunday evening, March 25, 2012 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
Isetta was born September 17, 1927 in Russell, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Steinert) Tittel. She grew up on the family farm south of Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1945.
Isetta was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Murphy on March 28, 1945 in Russell. This union was blessed with two children; Don, Jr. and Tenna Rae. They made their home in Russell. Don preceded her in death on May 11, 1991.
Isetta was a devoted homemaker and mother. Don and Isetta were the owners and operators of Don’s Excavating. She was an active person who volunteered her time for many years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Synod Nominating Committee for over 40 years, and Central States Synod Area 2. She was very active in the Russell Relay for Life and the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary, where she always had her camera and participated with “Voice of Democracy” through the V.F.W. the Order of the Eastern Star and the Isis Shrine Temple. Isetta was always very supportive of the high school athletics.
Surviving family include her son, Don Murphy, Jr. (Sue) of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Tenna Rea Bangert (Dennis) of Derby, Kansas; three grandchildren, Whitney Siavelis, Mandi Clifton and Megan Tolle; and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie Clifton and Casey Tolle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Clarence and Raymond Tittel and one sister Luella Miller.
Celebration of Isetta’s Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Memorials have been established with Russell Relay for Life or St. John Lutheran Church.
