Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Thomson, 53, of Gardner, Kansas and former Natoma resident, died on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at her home in Gardner.
Kathy was born on September 25, 1958, in Kimball, Nebraska, the daughter of Billy Lee and Patricia J. (Maupin) Hosier. She grew up and attended public schools in the Natoma area. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to James J. “Jim” Thomson on February 5, 1977, in Plainville, Kansas. From this union they were blessed with two children James D. and Billy Jo. In 1991 Jim and Kathy moved the family to Bunker Hill, Kansas. In 2001 they made their permanent home in Gardner. Kathleen was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, gardening and watching the QVC channel. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving family include her husband Jim of the home, son James D. Thomson and wife Lucy of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughter Billy Jo Schultz and husband Mark of Lucas, Kansas; mother Patricia J. Hosier of Natoma; brothers Bob Hosier of Natoma, Kansas and Russell “Rusty” Hosier of Cawker City, Kansas; six grandchildren Alicia, Austin, Shelby, Caleb, Ben and Sydney.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother Leslie L. Hosier.
A memorial service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel in Russell, Kansas. A family graveside inurnment of the cremains will be held in the Natoma City Cemetery and will follow immediately after the chapel service. The register book will be available for guests to sign from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Friday, August 3. Memorials may be given to the O.M.C. Hospice and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the memorial service.
