David Anthony Goddard, 63 of Russell, Kansas died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home.
David was born December 5, 1948 in Hays, Kansas, the son of Elmer E. and Darlene M. (Naiman) Goddard. He grew up in Hill City, Kansas until he was eight years old and then moved to Stockton, Kansas. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1966. After high school he then attended and graduated from Beloit Vo-Tech for welding.
David was united in marriage to Jill Annette Torr on January 19, 1969 in Beloit, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children; Douglas, Amie and Angela.
David was a self employed welder all of his life. He was very talented and gifted with the work he did and was also considered a jack of all trades. He lived in Salina, Kansas for a few years before moving to Russell in 1980.
David was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Russell. When his son Doug was a young boy, David was involved with the Russell Boy Scouts group and helped Doug achieve Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and swathing hay. He and Jill especially enjoyed traveling and attending the state fair in their motor home.
Surviving family include his wife of 43 years Jill of the home; son Douglas Neil Goddard of Bunker Hill, Kansas and daughter Amie A. Goddard of Kanopolis, Kansas; two grandchildren, Ashlinn and Alissa Danford and great granddaughter Alianna Danford. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Angela M. Goddard and brother Kit E. Goddard.
Celebration of Davidís Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Russell. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. at the Morland City Cemetery in Morland, Kansas, Friday afternoon. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family present to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Russell Boy Scouts Troop # 118 and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of these arrangements.
