Margaret Mary “Maude” Hart, 81 of Victoria and formerly of Russell died Friday, February 06, 2009 at St. John Nursing Center in Victoria.
Maude was born October 7, 1927 in Salina, Kansas the daughter of Balthasar A. and Margaret E. (Schwerman) Brungardt. She graduated from Salina High School in 1945. She then graduated from Mary Mount College in 1952 with a Masters in Chemistry.
During the 1950’s she was involved with the Medical Missions Sisters who set up pathology labs in what is now Pakistan. She also lived in Philadelphia during the 50’s where she was a member of the research teams that made medical advances with the RH Factor and Sickle Cell Anemia. She also was a Violinist for the Symphony Orchestra in Philadelphia and the Philharmonic. When she lived in Russell she worked for Dr. White, Dr. Pettijohn and Dr. Schultz as a lab tech.
Maude was a member of the St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria. She enjoyed quilting, croqueting and reading.
Surviving family include four children; daughters Trece Hart of Russell and Mary Hart-Detrixhe and husband Stan of Hays, sons Don Hart of Lenexa, Kansas and Jim Hart of Wichita; brothers, Tony Brungardt of St. Charles, Missouri, Father Al Brungardt of Junction City, Kansas, Paul Brungardt of Battle Creek, Nebraska and Mike Brungardt of Kansas City, Kansas; sister, Clare Hoefer of Longview, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son J. Sebastian, four brothers and four sisters.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria. Interment of ashes will follow at the St. Fidelis Catholic Cemetery. A Vigil will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with the family there to greet friends from 6 PM to 7 PM.
