Maurice Alvin Yarmer, 67, of Russell, Kansas and formerly of Galatia, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Maurice was born October 28, 1954, in Great Bend, Kansas. He was the son of Milton A. and Mary Agnes (Gleissner) Yarmer.  He grew up on the family farm north of Galatia.  He graduated from Hoisington High School in the Class of ‘72. Gary Hashenberger, 78, of Russell, Kansas, died on Sunday, February 21, 2022, at his home in Russell. Gary was born on May 10, 1943, in Hill City, Kansas, the son of William and Metta (Dawson) Hashenberger.  He grew up in Bogue, Kansas and graduated from Bogue High School.  After high school, he served his country by enlisting in the United States Army.  He worked as a pulling unit operator in the oil field industry. Mary Elizabeth (Bien) Banks, 89, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Main Street Manor of Russell. Mary was born August 19, 1932 in Sabetha, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Elmer and Helen (Slater) Bien.  She grew up in Sabetha and graduated from Sabetha High School.  While working at the Sabetha Theater as an usher she met Paul Francis Banks.  They were united in marriage on January 8, 1952 in Fidelity, Kansas at the St. Augustine Catholic Church.  This union was blessed with nine children: Deborah, Tim, Robert, Patricia, David, Phyllis, Carol, Duane and Doug. Peggy Lou (Erwin) Boxberger, 84, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. Peggy was born March 21, 1927 in Russell, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Kenneth and Glady (Barton) Erwin.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School. Peggy was united in marriage to Ardean Boxberger on October 14, 1956 in Russell.  This union was blessed with two sons; Kent and Kurt.  They made their home in Russell. Peggy was a devoted wife and homemaker for her boys.  She also helped keep the books for Ardean’s welding business. 

Steven Patrick Boltin, 54, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Russell Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born July 4, 1967 in St. Louis County, Missouri. He was one of two sons born to Arthur and Maryln (Kaufman) Boltin.  He grew up in St. Charles, Missouri until the age of 12 when his family moved to Bunker Hill, Kansas.  He graduated from Russell High School, class of 1985. Father Grennan was born on December 28, 1924, in Jewell County, Kansas, the son of William J. and Mary Agnes (Doyle) Grennan.  He grew up in Jewell County north of Beloit, Kansas and also lived in Cloud County west of Jamestown, Kansas.  He attended high school for 2 years at Jamestown High School before going to the seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.  As a young man he worked summers custom cutting wheat harvests for his brothers John and

Mary Lynn Murphy, 74, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Mary was born on September 23, 1947, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil D. and Ida Ruth (Skibbe) Wohlford.  She grew up on her family’s farm near Geneseo, Kansas, and graduated from Geneseo High School in the class of 1966.  After high school she attended Sterling College, Ft. Hays State University and Arkansas State University and received her bachelor’s degree.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Ronnie Dean Murphy on December 27, 1968,

Edwin Carl Hofstetter, 100 years 8 months, passed away February 11, 2022, at Providence Place in Kansas City, Kansas. Edwin was born June 10, 1921, to Henry and Williamina (Beisner) Hofstetter at their home in rural Osborne County north of Natoma, Kansas. He graduated from Natoma High School. He joined the United States Army in 1942 and served as a Staff Sergeant in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He left the military at the end of the war in October 1945.
