Audrey Alida Loughridge

Audrey Alida Loughridge, 90, of Russell, Kansas, died peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas.

Audrey was born on March 16, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Wolfram and Freda (Ruetenik) Stumpf. Dogs and ponies were a part of her childhood that she and her siblings enjoyed. She grew up in Painsville, Ohio and graduated from Riverside High School. She played in the H.S. band and had a love of music that continued throughout her life. She shared her enjoyment of playing the piano and wooden recorders with her young daughters.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Edwin Loughridge in June 9 1957. During this union of 16 years, they were blessed with two daughters Kathleen and Heather. Audrey met Stephen C. Olson in Colorado Springs. They fell deeply in love and have been constant companions for over 35 years. They moved to Russell, Kansas on July 03, 2018, after living in Denver for 25 years. She worked as a respiratory therapist in Grand Junction, Colorado and enjoyed spending time with and getting to know her patients. She also was a writer for the Colorado Springs Business Journal for several years. She was a creative soul and enjoyed sewing, astrology, gardening, reading, traveling in western Colorado and chatting with her grandson Peter.

Surviving family include her daughters Kathleen Malcolmson of Houston, Texas and Heather Buono and husband Michael of Kihei Maui, Hawaii; sister Marlene Louise Hitchcock of Geneva, Ohio and brother Wolfram Jon Stumpf and wife Beverly of Lakewood, Colorado; grandson Peter Buono of Kihei Maui, Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family is forever grateful for the quality care and attention with which the staff and local volunteers provided Audrey for her last 19 months at Wheatland Nursing Center.

Cremation has been selected by the family. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at the Russell City Cemetery. Family will greet guests the day of the service at the cemetery. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
