Daniel L. Merkel , 76 of Albuquerque, New Mexico died Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Albuquerque.
Daniel was born March 8, 1935 in Rozel, Kansas the son of Cecil and Ifa ( Salser ) Merkel.
He graduated from Garfield High School. Daniel attended and graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a BA in Botony in 1957 and then graduated with a Masters Degree in 1958. He then attended Oklahoma University in advanced studies.
Daniel has worked for the U.S.D.A. his entire career.
Suviving family include his wife Sue of the home; sons, Alan Merkel and Keith Merkel both of California; brothers Dr. Earl Merkel of Russell, Kansas and William Merkel of Edmond, Oklahoma: and sister Laurayne Nelson of Moline, Illinois.
A private Memorial service was held by the family.
