Della Mae (Pooley) Richmond – Hoeg, 90, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at her home with her children by her side.

Della was born July 7, 1936 in rural Paradise, Kansas. She was the daughter of John C. and Eunice A. (Dougherty) Pooley. She grew up in the Paradise and Natoma area and graduated from Natoma High School in the Class of 1954.

Della was united in marriage to Ronald R. Richmond on December 28, 1954 in Plainville, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children; Cale, Kelly, Reesa, Leesa. They made their home in Codell, Kansas for a few years before returning to Natoma. Ronald preceded her in death on November 28, 2003. Later on in life, Della was united in marriage to Bernard Hoeg on November 4, 2017. They made their home in Natoma. Bernard preceded her in death on June 6, 2024.

Della worked for the Natoma Independent News as an Editor for over 20 years, before they combined with the Russell paper, where she continued working for over 33 years. She was a bus driver for the Natoma School District for over 40 years and worked as an EMT for a few years. She was a member of the Natoma Presbyterian Church and the New Life Church which was previously the Natoma United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Natoma Heritage Seekers and the Natoma Community Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to country music, reading, quilting and traveling.

Della’s surviving family include her son, Kelly Richmond of Codell, Kansas; daughters, Ressa Harris (Jerry) of Topeka, Kansas and Leesa Lawson of Natoma, Kansas; sister, Marlene Bray of Natoma, Kansas; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son Cale Richmond, grandson Taylor Richmond, brother Ronald Pooley, sisters, Veta Radloff, Linda Colwell and Reva Berry; and infant daughter.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Natoma New Life Church. Burial of Ashes will follow in the Natoma City Cemetery. No Visitation will be held. A Memorial has been established with the Natoma Community Center. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangement.
