Delores L. Springer

Delores L. Springer of Bushton , Kansas died November 25, 2007 at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell , Kansas at the age of 88 years, 9 months. Delores was born February 25, 1919 in Bushton , Kansas the daughter of Jurgen and Minnie (Remmert) Haferman. She graduated from Bushton High School and attended two years at the University of Kansas in Lawrence , Kansas .

Delores was united in marriage to Raymond E. Springer on December 4, 1938 in Olathe , Kansas . From this union Raymond and Delores were blessed with two children, Carol and Steve.

Deloris was a housewife in the farming community in Rice County her entire life. Her great passions were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Salem United Methodist Church for 75 years. Retiring from farming in 2000, she and her husband moved to Lyons and lived there until moving to Russell in April of 2007.

Surviving family include; his daughter Carol Dawson and husband Don of Russell, Kansas, her son Steve Springer of El Dorado, Kansas; four grandchildren Amy Winklepleck and husband Brett of Arlington, TX, David Dawson and wife Susan of Flower Mound, TX, Jarrod Springer of El Dorado, and Emily Springer of Wichita, Kansas; five great grandchildren Braden, Regan and Rylie Winklepleck and Tyler and Brooke Dawson.

Those preceding Delores in death were her parents, husband Raymond; two sisters Laura Jane Berens and Marcella Fee Ansel; and one grandchild Joshua Ray Springer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Bushton , Kansas . Burial will follow the services at Bushton Cemetery . Memorials may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church, the Bushton Community Development or Hospital District No. 1 Rice County in care of Birzer-Sillin Funeral Home, 214 W. Avenue South, Lyons, KS 67554. No visitation is scheduled. Birzer-Sillin Funeral Home of Lyons, Kansas is in charge of the funeral services.
