Diane Marie (Billinger) Larson, 79, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas, with her family by her side.
Diane was born March 22, 1947, in Victoria, Kansas. She was one of three girls born to Clarence and Lily (Weigel) Billinger. She grew up in Victoria and graduated from Thomas Marion High School in Hays.
Diane was united in marriage to Carl Alvin Larson on February 3, 1967, in Lawrence, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children; Clarence, Carl and Catherine. They made their home in Lawrence for 10 years before moving to Russell.
Diane worked at McDonald’s in Russell for over 30 years doing food prep and cooking. She also cleaned local homes and was an elderly companion to individuals in Russell. She is a member of St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church and the Rosary Making Club. She enjoyed doing crafts, making Rosary Beads, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Diane’s surviving family include her sons, Clarence Larson (Cheryl) of Russell, Kansas, and Carl Larson (Judy) of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Catherine Byrd-Fatty of Grandview, Missouri; sisters, Karen Brull (Allen) of Munjor, Kansas, and Mary Arrambidez (Fred) of Tyler, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and a grandson.
Celebration of Diane’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, 15, 2026, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Memorial has been established with St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Contributions and condolences may be sent to mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
