Doris Ann "Granny" Schoenberger

Doris Anne “Granny” Schoenberger, 83, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Saturday, August 01, 2026, at her home in Natoma.

Doris was born on October 31, 1942, in Atwood, Kansas, the daughter of Phillip and Irene (Rummel) Jackson. She grew up in Atwood, Kansas, and graduated from Atwood High School in the class of 1960. She was united in marriage to Eugene Adolph Schoenberger on June 08, 1974, in Colby, Kansas. From this union, Doris and Eugene were blessed with three daughters Monica “Nicci”, Brandi and Martina. She was a part of Paradise Valley Grace Church in Paradise, Kansas. She enjoyed going to casinos, playing cards, family, her cats and never missed a chance to meet a new friend. Her kindness, love and generosity touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her daughter Martina Richards (Shawn); brothers David and Jim Jackson; sisters Mary Schmid, Joan Wells and Phyllis Janousek; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene on June 20, 2022, daughters Monica “Nicci” Russell and Brandi McConnell; brothers Gene and Doug Jackson and grandsons Tanner and Tobby Racette.

Cremation was selected by the family. A graveside service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 04, 2026, at the Grinnell City Cemetery in Grinnell, Kansas. A lunch will be provided immediately following at the Grinnell VFW. Memorials may be given to the Paradise Valley Grace Church Youth Group of Paradise, Kansas or sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
