Jonathon H. Burris

Jonathon Henry “JB” Burris, 35, of Lawrence, Kansas, and formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

JB was born January 23, 1991, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Harry Lee Burris and Teresa A. Hunt. He grew up and attended schools in Pawnee, Oklahoma and Enid, Oklahoma. In early adulthood he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, for a few years before moving to Russell, Kansas in 2016.

JB was an independent Auto Mechanic. He enjoyed working and tinkering on all cars. In his spare time he enjoyed watching YouTube videos, especially ones about off grid building, messing with cars and being outdoors.

JB’s surviving family include his mother, Terry Hunt of Lawrence, Kansas; brother, Raymond Smith (Amanda) of Russell, Kansas; companion, Anthony Forese of Lawrence, Kansas; nephew, Bodie Hamre of Russell, Kansas; nieces, McKenna Powers and Dakota Hamre both of Russell, Kansas; and his trusted service dog Oreo.

JB was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Burris; father, Harry Lee Burris; brother, Timothy Burris; Aunt, Patty Chirsty.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. A private burial of ashes will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established with St. Luke’s Foundation. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
