June Ann Reynolds, 76, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
June was born on May 22, 1950, in Russell, Kansas, to Melvin Victor Reynolds and Wilda Ethel Reynolds (née Newton). She spent her childhood on the family farm in Osborne County, north of Paradise and east of Natoma, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for family, hard work, and caring for others. She graduated from Natoma High School in 1968 and was active in both 4-H and Future Homemakers of America. Following high school, June attended Kansas State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science in 1972. She became a registered dietitian and dedicated her professional life to helping others improve their health and well-being. After graduation, she moved to Topeka and worked at Santa Fe Memorial Hospital, Stormont Vail Hospital, and two local nursing homes. Later, she joined Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas, where she completed her distinguished career. June’s greatest calling, however, was caring for those she loved. She faithfully cared for her mother, Wilda, and later for her aunt, Norma Jean Newton, remaining devoted to family throughout their lives. Her quiet strength, dependability, and compassion were constants that family members could always count on. An avid reader, June especially loved To Kill a Mockingbird, a book whose themes of kindness, integrity, and understanding reflected many of the values she lived by. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and spent much of her life rescuing and caring for cats and dogs, often giving them wonderfully creative names that became part of family stories.
June is survived by her brother, John Melvin Reynolds and his wife, Cheryl, of Topeka; her nephews James Ziegler of Topeka, John “Colin” Reynolds of Great Bend, and Connor Reynolds (Hartley) of Topeka; her niece Caitlin Reynolds (Blake Hallinan) of Aarhus, Denmark; her cousin Cynthia Schamber of Carrollton, GA, whom she was particularly close, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Victor Reynolds, in 1973; her mother, Wilda Ethel Reynolds, in 1998; and her aunt, Norma Jean Newton, in 2008.
June will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering devotion to family, her kindness to animals, and the quiet generosity that touched so many lives. Her legacy lives on in those she cared for, encouraged, and loved.
