Mary Quint

Mary Quint, 92, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026 in Bellevue, Nebraska. Mary was born on November 29, 1933, in Russell, Kansas, to John and Phoebe Streck. She was the youngest of three girls.

As a child she delivered milk for the family dairy before school each day. She graduated from Russell High School in 1951. She worked as a teller at the Russell State Bank. On April 25, 1959, she married James Quint in Russell, Kansas.

Mary followed James as he completed his master’s degree and a short time working at Boy’s Town in Omaha, Nebraska. They then moved to Imperial, Nebraska in 1962, where James took a teaching position at the high school and raised their three boys there.

In 1984, they moved to Auburn, Nebraska, where she worked as a library aide at the high school until they both retired and moved to Sun City, Arizona. Years later she moved back to Bellevue, Nebraska to be closer to family.

She was a proud and quiding mother, a doting grandmother and a generous friend to many. She loved her cheerios, Kleenex and jumble work games.

Mary is survived by her sons, Chris Quint (Dean) of Kaneohe, Hawaii and Sid Quint (Susan) of Bellevue, Nebraska; and grandchildren, Abby, Ally, Lily, Scott and Mia. She was preceded in death by her husband James and son Bruce. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion, also a model for living with courage and grace.

A Celebration of Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell. Burial of ashes will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell. No visitation will be held. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary is helping arrange the services.
