Ronald J. Davis, 81, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at his home. He went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family.

Ron was born September 4, 1944, in Lyons, Kansas. He was the son of Lloyd Davis and Evelyn (Echols) Davis. He grew up in Great Bend, Kansas, Pratt, Kansas, and Hays, Kansas. He graduated from Hays High School in the Class of 1962.

Ron met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Marilyn B. Meckel on January 30, 1965 in Hays, Kansas. This union was blessed with six children; Elizabeth, Mark, Paul, David, Matthew and Anne. They made their home in Russell in 1969.

Ron was the owner and operator of Allied Cementing from 1974 to 2007. The oilfield was his passion and he was one of the last great cementers. He was an active member of the Bible Baptist Church of Russell. Ron had a love for cars, cleaning them, taking family and friends for rides. He enjoyed maintaining his yard and being outside. He was always ready to take his grandchildren riding in the Ranger or on his moped, or attending their activities.

Ron’s surviving family include his wife of 61 years, Marilyn of the home; daughters, Elizabeth Davis of Russell, Kansas and Anne Stoops (Jason) of Georgetown, Texas; sons, Mark Davis (Michelle) of Russell, Kansas, Paul Davis (Aura) of Hays, Kansas, David Davis (Mindy) of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Matthew Davis (Mallory) of Russell, Kansas; brother, Jim Davis (Lois) of Arkansas; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth Ann Hutson.

Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Bible Baptist Church of Russell. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Memorial has been established in lieu of flowers to Bible Baptist Church. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
