Sheldon Ross Schwien

Sheldon Ross Schwien, 42, of Russell, Kansas, left his life on earth February 8th, 2026.

Sheldon was born July 11, 1983, in Russell Kansas, son of Stanley and Fonna (Masters) Schwien. He attended School and graduated from Russell High School.

He was known in his youth as Slim and for driving his antique black Chevy Apache to school. He had many interests and passion for old cars, visiting car shows occasionally with family in toe. He remained in Russell his whole life. He loved spending time with his children as they grew up. They were his pride and joy. He loved nothing more than a family gathering where lots of stories would be told. Some of his own childhood ornery experiences would come up for his children to hear.

Sheldon was a proud father of Seth Ryan Schwien, Ava Marie Schwien, and Sage Roman Schwien all of Hays Kansas. Other survivors are his mother, Fonna Schwien and maternal grandmother Diane Masters and brother Scott Schwien.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Stanley Ray Schwien;, paternal grandparent Larry and Norma Schwien; and maternal grandfather, Milan Masters.

Memorial Services for Sheldon Schwien and Stanley Schwien will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, February 20, 2026 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Burial of ashes will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
