Teresa E. Erbert, 73, of Lucas, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.
Teresa was born on May 23, 1953, in Lucas, Kansas, to Lawrence and Violet (Reh) Wenthe. She was raised in Lucas, a community she loved and proudly called home her entire life. She graduated from Lucas High School with the Class of 1971. Following graduation, Teresa attended beauty school and began what would become a lifelong passion for making others look and feel their best. Teresa eventually followed her dreams and opened her own beauty salon, proudly owning and operating “Teresa’s Hair is Where It’s At Beauty Salon.” Through her years as a beautician, she built countless friendships and touched the lives of many people in her community. Her salon was more than just a place to get your hair done; it was a place for conversation, laughter, friendship, and catching up on life. Teresa was blessed with two children, Heath and Heather, who brought so much love and joy into her life. Teresa was an active member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries in Lucas, Kansas. She was also a familiar face at the Sylvan Grove Sale Barn, where she spent her Mondays working as a cook. Whether she was behind her salon chair, cooking at the sale barn, or visiting with friends, Teresa enjoyed being around people and being part of her community. Anyone who knew Teresa knew how much she loved spending time outdoors, especially mowing her lawn and keeping her yard looking its very best. She took great pride in her home and could often be found outside making sure everything was just right. She also enjoyed cooking, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and watching Kansas University basketball. Above all else, Teresa’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether she was cooking for her family, spending time together, or simply enjoying their company, those moments meant the world to her. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and loved every opportunity to care for them and be part of their lives. Teresa will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, her love for her family, her dedication to her community, and the many memories she created with those fortunate enough to know her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared and the memories she leaves behind will continue to live on through her family and friends.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Heather Meyer and husband Toby, of Sylvan Grove, Kansas; her six grandchildren, Cheyenne Meyer (Adam Giger), Kilby Meyer (Tara Meyer), Tyra Meyer, Kolton Meyer, Reese Erbert, and Roylin Moore; her great-granddaughter, Illa Marie Giger; and her three step-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Branch, and McCoy Giger. She is also survived by one brother, one sister, and many other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Violet Wenthe; her beloved son, Heath Reh Erbert; and her sister, Henietta Wenthe.
A gathering to celebrate Teresa’s life will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Sylvan Grove Sale Barn in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. The family will be present to visit with relatives and friends and warmly welcomes the entire community to join them in remembering and celebrating Teresa’s life. A private graveside service will take place at a later date at Lucas Cemetery in Lucas, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made in Teresa’s honor to the Bullfoot Creek–Sylvan Hustler 4-H Club or the Sylvan Grove Fair Association. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
