Theresa Denise Sullivan, 66, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her residence in Russell.
Theresa was born September 21, 1959 in Russell, the daughter of Gerald B. and Lauraine M. (Sanders) Sullivan. She grew up in Russell and Solemon, Kansas, and graduated from Russell High School.
Theresa was united in marriage to Bill Middleton on December 20, 1980 in Tucson, Arizona. They later divorced. Later, she married Thomas Rowley in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she lived for many years before divorce. She loved listening to the Beatles, going to the Albuquerque Ballon Festival, collecting antiques, and visiting Disney Land on several occasions.
Theresa was a member of the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She also was involved with the Russell Housing Authority, Resident Housing Authority, and the Russell County Historical Society. Being proud of her Irish/German heritage, Theresa and sister Annette worked during the summers at the Oil Patch Museum of Russell, to keep it open for visitors and tourist.
Theresa’s surviving family include her brother, Gerald A. Sullivan (Melissa) of Iuka, Kansas; Godson and nephew, Lucas A. Sullivan (Kasa), great nephews, Karson, Kyson and Kraeton Sullivan and great niece Kwynn Sullivan all of Holcomb, Kansas; and a host of cousins and many friends.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Annette C. Sullivan; stepfather, Carl Weathers; and many furry babies.
The family has requested cremation and will be holding a private service at a later date. A memorial has been established with the Russell County Historical Society in lieu of flowers. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these services.
