Adeline R. Eickhoff

Adeline Rosetta Eickhoff, 93 of Natoma, Kansas died Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Ascension’s Via Christi Village in Hays, Kansas.

Adeline was born May 3, 1928, to Gust and Josie Blank. She and seven siblings grew up on the farm north of Natoma. She graduated from Natoma High school and went on to attend Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas.  Adeline married Robert “Bob” Eickhoff on December 5, 1954 in Natoma, where they made their home for the next 58 years. This marriage was blessed with six children; Philip, Steven, Diane, Dale, Gerry and Kevin.  Adeline loved being a household manager. She spent her days caring and entertaining her children, sewing, cooking, baking, taking family vacations and short day trips to see the sights of western Kansas.

When the youngest kids were old enough to be in school, she took a job as lunch lady for the Natoma School District. She truly enjoyed taking care of all the kids at school and making sure they were properly nourished.  Adeline spent her spare time sewing for anyone who needed a zipper put on or a wedding dress made. She was also a member of many community groups including Natoma Heritage Seekers, Osborne County Tourism, Self Culture Club, and American Legion Auxiliary. Most important in her life was her love and dedication to the church. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Bible study group, choir, Ladie’s Guild and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).

Surviving family includes, daughter Diane Bott (Doug) of Bison, Kansas; five sons, Philip Eickhoff (Connie) of St. George, Kansas, Steven Eickhoff (Pam) of Raymore, Missouri, Dale Eickhoff (Patty) of Natoma, Kansas, Gerry Eickhoff (Michelle) of Paola, Kansas, and Kevin Eickhoff of Natoma, Kansas; sisters, Arola Tichenor of Topeka, Kansas and Viola Pike of Jackson, Michigan; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
