Daisy Fern Conley

Daisy Fern (Burch) Conley, 95, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at her daughter’s home.

Daisy was born November 5, 1927 at the family farm south of Selkirk, Kansas.  She was the eighth of ten children born to Elzy G. and Mary E. (Lonberger) Burch.

Daisy married Richard E. Conley on April 5, 1945 in Syracuse, Kansas.  They made their home in Leoti, Kansas and raised their four children; Eileen, Roger, Danny and Michael.

Daisy was a homemaker until all her children were in school.  She worked at the High Plains Motel in Leoti and at Tosland’s Liquor Store, until they moved to Russell in 1976, She was a great cook and made sure no one’s birthday passed without a special dinner and cake.  To her children, she was “The World’s Best & Greatest Mom”.

Daisy is survived by her daughter, Eileen Arnhold (Fred) of Russell, Kansas; sons, Roger Conley (Sheila) of Sidney, Nebraska, Danny Conley (Mary) of Grand Island, Nebraska and Michael Conley of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandsons, Brent Conley (Kyle) of Hull, Massachusetts, and Cory Conley (Melissa) of Hays, Kansas; four great grandchildren, Ellie, Liam, Abbigail and Madilyn; sister-in-law, June Burch of Scott City, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Richard in 2004; brothers, Alva, Harley Lee, George, Glenn and Paul; sisters, Mary, Rosy, and Eunice; and grandson, Shon Conley.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, May 7, 2020 at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell, Kansas.  Celebration of Life Services will be held on May 8, 2020 in Leoti, Kansas.  Cremation has taken place. A Memorial has been established with Wichita County Amusement Center in Leoti.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
