Della Dean Post, 94, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, May 01, 2020, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas.
Della was born on October 02, 1925, in Dorrance, Kansas, the daughter of Frank E., Sr. and Rachel Pearl (Warehime) Sanders. She grew up in Dorrance and graduated from Dorrance High School in 1944. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Dale R. Post on May 26, 1945, in Russell, Kansas, and they were married for 66 years. From this union Della and Dale were blessed with 3 children Kenneth, Glenda and Gerald. Dale preceded her in death on August 04, 2011. She worked for 16 years in the dietary and cleaning department at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Russell and was also a former member of the V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting and taking care of her flower garden at home. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Surviving family include her sons Kenneth Post and wife Ruth of Enid, Oklahoma and Gerald Post of Hutchinson, Kansas; three grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents, daughter Glenda Hammerschmidt, brothers William, Frank, Jr. and John Sanders; sisters Lora Lamoree, Dora Bushell, Irene Bushell Steinle, Cora Manlove and Evelyn Malson.
A graveside service to celebrate Della’s life will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, May 05, 2020 at the Wilson City Cemetery in Wilson, Kansas. Viewing will be from 9 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday, May 05, 2020, at the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
