Donald R. Gideon

Donald Raymond Gideon, 69, of Lovington, New Mexico and formerly of Guymon, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.

Donald was born July 31, 1952 in Russell, Kansas.  He was the son of Herman and Helen (Wagner) Gideon.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School.

Donald was united in marriage to Pamela Pfannenstiel on May 26, 1972 in Russell.  This union was blessed with a son, David.  They made their home over the years in Great Bend, Kansas; Oklahoma, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Russell; Guymon, Oklahoma and Lovington, New Mexico.

Donald worked in the oil industry for Mobil Oil for over 20 years.  He was a truck driver, Meter Tender and DOT Compliance Supervisor.  He attended the Hill Crest Baptist Church in Lovington.  Donald was a worker at heart and spent most of his time providing for his family.  But in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, wood working and cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs.

Donald’s surviving family include his wife of 49 years, Pamela of the home; son, David Gideon (Michelle) of Texhoma, Oklahoma; brothers, Darold Gideon (Corine) of Russell, Kansas and Glenn Gideon of Russell, Kansas; Tammy Witte of McPherson, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Eric Gideon and Christina Gideon.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elaine Golightley.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Burial of Ashes will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, September 10, 2021 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A Memorial has been established with Light Of Lea County.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
