Donald W. Schneider

Donald Wayne Schneider Sr., 84, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Friday, December 06, 2019, at the Red Bud Village in Plainville, Kansas.

Don was born on November 11, 1935, in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Martin and Dorothea (John) Schneider.  He grew up in Rural Osborne County, and graduated from Natoma High School in the class of 1953.  He was drafted into the United States Army.  He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Berneita Jean Griffin on August 10, 1960, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, North of Natoma.  From this union Donald and Berneita were blessed with 5 children Donald Jr., Kelly, William (Bill), Susan and Todd.  Don worked the family farm and enjoyed farming and ranching with his wife and children and also was owner operator of Schneider Pallets LLC.  Don was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church.  In addition to being a devoted father and husband, he served in several officer positions for the Church as well as Natoma School Board, Round Mound Township Board, Rural Water District II Board.   He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was passionate about ranching and farming.

Don is survived by his wife Berneita of the home; sons Don Schneider Jr. (Lynda) of Bennington, Kansas, Kelly Schneider of Alton, Kansas, Bill Schneider of Baldwin City, Kansas and Todd Schneider (fiancé Michelle Wagner) of Paradise, Kansas and his daughter Susan Cain (Chris) of Topeka, Kansas; 3 brothers Raymond Schneider of Osborne, Kansas, Richard Schneider (Claudia) of Columbia, South Carolina and John Schneider (Jan) of Iowa City, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters Elna Gough, Ruby Schneider and Ruth Barnett.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 13, 2019, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Natoma with Pastors Matthew Schneider and Michael Schmidt officiating.  Viewing for Don and visitation with family will take place the day of the service from 10 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday morning.  Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Natoma, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
