Frank Herbel

Frank James Herbel, 55, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 at his residence.

Frank was born April 28, 1966 in Russell, Kansas. The son of Theodore, Jr., and Bennie Ruth (Neff) Herbel. He grew up in Russell and worked at the Russell Daily News for many years as a delivery boy. Then he worked as a Pressman before the Daily News was sold. Then he worked for Anderson as a Pressman until the office moved onto old Hwy 40. Frank delivered the Hays Daily News for years and for the last five years delivered the Salina Journal.

Frank enjoyed working on his cars and trucks, drawing pictures especially of Dragons. He loved talking to people on his routes, customers or not. His cats always had a special place in his heart. People always wanted to know why Frank’s name did not start with a D like the rest of his brothers and sisters was because he was named after his maternal grandfather, Frank James.

Frank’s surviving family include his father, Theodore Herbel, Jr of Russell, Kansas.; brothers, David E. Jones (Teri) of New Baden, Illinois and Doren D. Herbel (Carol) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; sister, Dianna D. Herbel of Russell, Kansas; two nieces; two nephews; four grand nieces; and five grand nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Bennie Ruth (Neff) Herbel; sister, Debra (Neff) Schneider; and both sets of grandparents.

A Graveside Service and Burial of Ashes will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Russell City Cemetery. No visitation will be held. Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
