John H. Becker

John Henry Becker, 78, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, July 09, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

John was born on August 07, 1943, in Osborne, Kansas, the son of Matt and Luise (Meier) Becker.  He grew up on the family farm in Osborne County, Kansas and attended Mt. Hope country schools in Osborne.  He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Lillian Jean Graf, on April 23, 1966 in Victoria, Kansas.  From this union John and Lillian were blessed with a son Wayne and they made Russell, Kansas their home for over 55 years.  John worked hard in the trucking industry as a truck driver and managed Graves Truckline.  Later he was a supervisor of PCS Trucking and also worked for ABCO Wire.  He was a longtime member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge of Russell.  He enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, bowling, softball, billiards, gardening with his wife and watching Kansas City Royals baseball and Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State University football.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving family include his son Wayne Becker of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers Lawrence Becker of Plainville, Kansas and Edward Becker and wife Sandy of Hays, Kansas; sister Lucy William and husband Dan of Osborne, Kansas and grandson Jacob Becker of Cleveland, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillian on November 24, 2021 and brothers Herman, Adolf and Ray Becker.

A celebration of the funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell, Kansas.  A rosary and vigil will be held at 7:15 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12th at the mortuary.  Memorials may be given to the Knights of Columbus and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
