Justin A. Ploutz

Justin Alan Ploutz, 60, of Burdett, Kansas, and former Russell resident, died on Sunday, December 05, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Justin was born on June 05, 1961, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Frank H. and Elizabeth J. (Windholz) Ploutz.  He grew up in Russell, Kansas, and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1979.  After high school, he joined the United States Navy and served his country over seas.  After his military service he lived most of his life in Russell, Rozel and Burdett, Kansas.  He was married to Heide Renee Moote from 2003 to 2012, but later divorced.  He worked for Golden Valley Coop for 43 years as a dry truck operator.  He enjoyed working, reading, gardening and watching NASCAR, Green Bay Packers Football and Kansas University Basketball.

Surviving family include his daughters Linda Chlumsky (Mike) of Rush Center, Kansas, and Jessica Gerhardt (Tim) of Russell, Kansas; son Trace Baker of Ness City, Kansas; brothers Jack Ploutz (Stacie) of McCracken, Kansas; Jeff Ploutz (Terrie) of Russell, Kansas; sisters Caroline Orcutt of Ramah, Colorado, Raileene Ramsey (Roger) and Pam Ramsey (Wilbern) all of Russell, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Ploutz and sister Valerie Ramsey.

A celebration of Justin’s life will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, December 09, 2021, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the Michaelis Cemetery in rural Russell County.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, December 08, 2021, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Wednesday evening.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
