Steven P. Boltin

Steven Patrick Boltin, 54, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Russell Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Steve was born July 4, 1967 in St. Louis County, Missouri. He was one of two sons born to Arthur and Maryln (Kaufman) Boltin.  He grew up in St. Charles, Missouri until the age of 12 when his family moved to Bunker Hill, Kansas.  He graduated from Russell High School, class of 1985.

Steve served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school.  When his tour of duty was complete, he returned to Russell and attended Barton County Community College where he obtained an EMS Degree.

Steve was united in marriage to Melody Kay Vandergon on May 10, 1997 at the park in Bunker Hill.  This union was blessed with three sons; Malachai, Isaac and Ezekial.  They made their home in Russell.

Steve was a Paramedic for Russell County for 30 years and the Russell County Deputy Coroner for 21 years before his retirement in 2021 due to his health.  In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, woodworking, reading sci-fi and fantasy novels and helping the people of Russell County.

Steve’s surviving family include his wife of 24 years, Melody of the home; sons, Malachai Boltin of Russell, Kansas, Isaac Boltin of Camp Pendelton, California and Ezekial Boltin of Russell, Kansas; parents, Art and Maryln Boltin of Bunker Hill, Kansas; brother, Shawn Boltin (Rosie) of Black Forest, Colorado, and niece, Daniella Cavalier of Denver Colorado. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Gathering will be held at 5:30 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Fossil Lake in Russell.  A Viking Burial will take place at sunset.  Cremation has taken place.  A Memorial, in lieu of flowers, has been established with Russell County EMS.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
