Thomas F. Tittel

Thomas Fredrick Tittel, 70, of Edgerton, Kansas, and former Russell resident, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 01, 2022. He was the son of Vernon and Peggy (Riley) Tittel.

Thomas was born on July 22, 1951, in Russell, Kansas, where he grew up and was a graduate of Russell High School in the class of 1969. Tom was an avid athlete who loved to play football, basketball, and baseball and compete in track. Tom continued his education at Hutchinson Community College.

Tom began his hard-working career by moving to North Dakota in the early 70s. He would then proceed to New Mexico, where he worked for Ecolab and Dean Foods, and later, to Oklahoma to work for Gilt Edge Dairy. Tom later moved to Texas, where he received a degree at Midwestern State University as a manufacturing engineer. After graduation, Tom returned to Kansas, where he began his 12-year career as a manufacturing engineer with Ruskin in Parsons, Kansas.

Tom formed life-long friendships with so many, including his good friend, Alan Sanford, who became like family. Tom’s nickname, “Uncle Tom,” became permanent for all the kids and grandkids. Tom never missed an event that involved the kids and retrospectively moved to Edgerton, KS when his health declined.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two sons, Terry Tittel (Emily) of Arizona; Michael Tittel of Texas; two grandchildren, Owen and Adlin; and his brother, James Tittel (Shelly).

A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 07, 2022, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.
