Valerie A. Ramsey

Valerie Ann (Ploutz) Ramsey, 56, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at her home in Russell.

Valerie was born December 29, 1963 in Russell, one of eight children born to Frank and Bettie (Windholz) Ploutz.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1982.

Valerie was united in marriage to Perry Ramsey on August 7, 1982 in Russell.  This union was blessed with two children; Diana and Brian.  They made their home in Russell.

Valerie was a devoted wife and homemaker.  She also worked over the years at many business in Russell including 15 years at Russell A&W, Casey’s, King of the Road, Pohlman’s Hardware and the Dairy Queen.  In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, reading Stephen King novels, working with wood and especially spending time with family and friends.

Valerie’s surviving family include her husband of 37 years, Perry of the home; daughter, Diana VanBruggen (Anthony) of Russell, Kansas; son, Brian Ramsey (Robyn) of Russell, Kansas; three brothers, Jack Ploutz (Stacie) of McCraken, Kansas, Jeff Ploutz (Terrie) of Russell, Kansas and Justin Ploutz of Burdett, Kansas; three sisters, Carolyne Orcutt of Rama, Colorado, Raileene Ramsey (Roger) of Russell, Kansas and Pamela Ramsey (Wilbern) of Russell, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Annisyn VanBruggen and Shay Ramsey.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jim Ploutz.

Celebration of Valerie’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 2, 2020 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating.  Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday morning from 9:00 AM to service time at the mortuary.  A Memorial has been established as the Valerie Ramsey Memorial Fund.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
