Allen Wayne Strecker, 71, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, July 01, 2020, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.
Allen was born on April 28, 1949, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Chester and Lillian (Karst) Strecker. He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1967. After high school he joined the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After serving his country, he returned to Russell and lived here most all his life. He worked for the City of Russell Fire Department and loved helping protect his home town as a fireman. He also worked as a laborer in the Oilfield industry and was a certified scuba diver. He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell and was a V.F.W. Post #6240 and American Legion Life Member.
Surviving family include his brother Rick Strecker and wife Susan of Hays, Kansas, two nieces Kelly Strecker of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Kit Dinwiddie and grand niece Sawyer June Dinwiddie of Burneyville, Oklahoma and step brother Kenny Shelton and wife Judy of Hoisington, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation was selected by the family and they will have a private burial at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers to please give memorials to the Russell City Fire Department and send in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
