Clara Constance “Connie” Tuzicka, 94, of Russell, Kansas, died on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Russell Regional Hospital.
Connie was born on December 28, 1929, in New York City, New York, the daughter of William John and Irma Grace (Miller) Hewitt. She grew up in Ocean Side Long Island, New York and attended local schools. She met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Floyd Charles Tuzicka on November 17, 1963, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They made their home in Olmitz, Kansas and moved to the Russell area the last several years. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at The Manor nursing home in Great Bend, Kansas. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell and former member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz. She was also a member of the church altar society and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, watching the Kansas City Chiefs football and Kansas State University football and basketball.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Floyd on July 24, 2023.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell, Kansas, with the rosary being performed at 10:00 A.M. just before the funeral mass. A graveside service will be held after the funeral at 2 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Olmitz, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and sent in care of the mortuary. The family will be having a lunch, immediately following the service, at Meridy’s Restaurant and invite all attending the funeral to join them.
