Lillian J. Becker

Lillian Jean “Lil” Becker, 80, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at her home in Russell.

Lillian was born on July 29, 1941 in Victoria, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Florina (Windholz) Graf.  She grew up in Victoria, Kansas, and graduated from Victoria High School in the class of 1959.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to John Becker on April 23, 1966, in Victoria.  From this union Lillian and John were blessed with a son Wayne and they made there home in Russell.  Her fulltime job was wife, mother and homemaker for her family.  She also worked outside the home as a prep cook at Vintage Place and Martino’s Pizza.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell and enjoyed participating in Church Guild and doing mission work through the church.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and cats.

Surviving family include her husband John of the home; son Wayne Becker of Cleveland, Ohio; grandson Jacob Becker of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces Jolene Watson of Cimarron, Kansas and Karen Sharp of Salina, Kansas; and nephews Michael Schmidt and wife Mary of Ellsworth, Kansas, David Schmidt and wife Gloria of Salina, Kansas and Mark Schmidt of Salina, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan Schmidt, brother in-law Virgil Schmidt, niece Theresa Schmidt and niece in-law Laura Schmidt.

A celebration of the funeral mass for Lillian will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.  A Rosary will take place at 7 P.M. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the mortuary.  Viewing and visitation will take place from 1 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Sunday at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Sunday evening.  Memorials may be given to the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
