Loretta M. Maske

Loretta Marie Maske, 79, died on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas.

Loretta was born on May 26, 1943, in Hoxie, Kansas, the daughter of Martin and Josephine (Jegen) Bieker.  She grew up in Hoxie and graduated from Hoxie High School.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to William J. Maske on July 13, 1963, in Grainfield, Kansas.  From this union they were blessed with 3 children, sons Kevin and Terry and a daughter Tracey. 

She lived her entire life in Kansas living in Sharon Springs, Lindsborg, Salina, Fairport and has lived in Russell, Kansas, for 20 years.  She received nursing and EMT training and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Russell.  She enjoyed gardening and took pride in and worked hard maintaining a beautiful yard.  She also enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales and thrift stores and watching Jayhawk basketball, Chiefs football and Royals baseball.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family include her sons Kevin Maske and Terry Maske both of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter Tracey Nabity and husband Phillip of Casper, Wyoming; brother Lawrence Bieker of Hoxie, Kansas; 5 grandchildren Reece Peters, P.J. Nabity, Nathan and Justin Salpas and Sha’nera Maske and one great grandson Arthur Aaron Salpas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William on October 13, 2017, brother LaVern Bieker and granddaughter Dariawna Maske.

A celebration of the funeral mass for Loretta’s life will be held at 11 A.M on Thursday, October 06, 2022, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Russell.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, October 05, 2022, with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Wednesday evening at the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
