William E. Kuntzsch

William E. “Bill” Kuntzsch, 84, of Russell, Kansas, and formerly of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Bill was born March 26, 1938 in Russell, the son of William H. and Margret F. (Reddig) Kuntzsch.  He grew up in the Russell area and attended country schools.

Bill was united in marriage to Mary L. Weathers on May 6, 1956 in Russell.  This union was blessed with four children; William, Jr., Malinda, Glenda and Alan.

Bill worked in the oil fields his whole life.  He was a proud volunteer of the Bunker Hill Fire Department for over 25 years.  He also later in life was the sexton of the Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Bill’s surviving family include his wife of 65 years, Mary of the home; daughters, Malinda Walker (Kurt) of  Luray, Kansas and Glenda Kerns (Mike) of Stockton, Kansas; sons, William Kuntzsch, Jr., (Janet) of Topeka, Kansas and Alan Kuntzsch (Sheila) of Bunker Hill, Kansas; Brothers, James Kuntzsch (Joyce) of Dorrance, Kansas, Kenny Kuntzsch (Linda) of Russell, Kansas, and Dennis Kuntzsch (Cheryl) of Palco, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother and granddaughter, Malorie Hamlin.

Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.  Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 8, 2022 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A Memorial has been established with the Bunker Hill Fire Department Fireman’s Fund.  Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
