Judith L. Janssen

Judith Lee Janssen, 79, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, April 01, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Judith was born on December 04, 1942, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Willis W. and Elsie (Bender) Harbaugh.  She grew up in Luray, Kansas, and graduated from Luray High School.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Wayne Harry Janssen on June 20, 1964, in Russell, Kansas.  From this union Judith and Wayne were blessed with two boys Dean and Douglas.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Gatewood Nursing Home.  She also worked as a manager and chairman of the board for the Russell Senior Center.  She enjoyed bowling, making ceramic, sewing, crafts and fishing whenever she had the opportunity.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving family include her husband Wayne of the home, sons Dean Janssen of Nicholson, Pennsylvania and Douglas Janssen and wife Cindy of Ellsworth, Kansas; brother Stanley Harbaugh and wife Bonnie of Palisade, Colorado; 1 grandchild, 3 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Walter Dodson and brother Wayne Harbaugh.

A gathering service to celebrate Judith’s life and meet with the family will be held from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., on Friday, April 08, 2022, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.  Open visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, April 8th.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be given to the Russell Senior Center and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
