Mary Lynn Murphy, 74, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Mary was born on September 23, 1947, in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil D. and Ida Ruth (Skibbe) Wohlford.  She grew up on her family’s farm near Geneseo, Kansas, and graduated from Geneseo High School in the class of 1966.  After high school she attended Sterling College, Ft. Hays State University and Arkansas State University and received her bachelor’s degree.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Ronnie Dean Murphy on December 27, 1968,

Edwin Carl Hofstetter, 100 years 8 months, passed away February 11, 2022, at Providence Place in Kansas City, Kansas. Edwin was born June 10, 1921, to Henry and Williamina (Beisner) Hofstetter at their home in rural Osborne County north of Natoma, Kansas. He graduated from Natoma High School. He joined the United States Army in 1942 and served as a Staff Sergeant in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He left the military at the end of the war in October 1945. George and Cooper Gier, of Russell, Kansas, died in a tragic car accident on Friday, February 11, 2022, in rural Russell County, Kansas. George Cecil Gier was born on June 28, 1981, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Leo G. and Marian K. (Cooper) Gier.  He grew up in Osborne, Kansas, and graduated from Osborne High School in the class of 1999.  After high school he played football for 2 years at Highland Community College.  He was united in marriage to Marcia Dawn Woodyard on October 07, 2006 in Manhattan, Kansas.  From this union they were blessed with two children

Clarice Kay Pruter, 84, of Russell, KS, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS. Kay was born on December 12, 1937, in Hays, KS, the daughter of Clarence T. and Clara M. (Pfortmiller) Christensen.  She grew up in Natoma, KS, and graduated from Natoma High School in 1955.  Kay was united in marriage to Everett Pruter, Jr. on August 1, 1955, in Denver, Colorado.  From this union, Kay and Jr. were blessed with six children: Kally, Brad, Carrie, Angie, Deena and Kenda.  Kay was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the piano

Bobby Lee “B.L.” Schulz, 97, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Brookdale Senior Living in Hays, Kansas. B.L. was born July 29, 1924 in Greensburg, Kansas.  The son of Robert Emmet and Fanny Maude (Hunsley) Schulz.  He grew up in Greensburg and graduated from Greensburg High School, where he lettered in all sports and music.  He played on the 41/42 Kansas University Jayhawks basketball team and pledged Kappa Sigma. Tammy Harris Morris, 58, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, February 01, 2022, at the Stormont Vail Health Center in Topeka, Kansas Tammy was born on May 29, 1963, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth Mitchell and Billie Jean (Zimmerman) Beck.  She grew up in Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School.  She graduated from Brown Mackie College in 1983.  She was united in marriage to Ray Morris on October 25, 2021, in Russell, Kansas.  She formerly worked as a certified nurses assistant at Wheatland Nursing Home in Russell. She currently was owner and operator of Bonus Full Services. 

Leland Steven Dix, 73, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Leland was born January 13, 1949 in Phillipsburg, Kansas, the son of Leonard F. and Lula Jane (Richardson) Dix.  He grew up in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School in 1967. Leland was united in marriage to Ruth Schilowsky on January 31, 1970 in Stockton.  This union was blessed with two children, Richard and Christina.  Ruth preceded him in death on June 2, 1995.  Later, Leland was united in marriage to Theresa (Hupfer) Seier Gardner on July 3, 2009. 

Ramon Lee Laurie, 77, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Ramon was born on November 30, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Loran Clyde and Hazel Lucile (Brashear) Laurie.  He grew up in the Derby, Kansas, area and graduated from Derby Senior High School.  After high school he attended Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, working towards his electrical engineering degree.  After completing Army ROTC, Ramon quit college to serve his country as a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War.  He was married to Judith Ann Sanders on

Edward Carlyle Herman, 86, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Main Street Manor in Russell. Edward was born on March 29, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Boyd and Elsie Merle (Bennett) Herman.  His family moved to Sylvan Grove, Kansas, where he grew up as a young boy and graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in the class of 1953.  After high school, he proudly served his country by joining the United States Marines.  After completing his military service, he came back home and met, fell in love and was united in marriage to
