Darleen Kay Bradford, 82, of Kansas City, Missouri and formerly of Okeechobee, Florida passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at her son’s home in Kansas City. Darleen was born in Lyons, Kansas, on April 23, 1938, the daughter of Denzil F. and Jewel E. (Vaughn) Bradford.  She grew up in Kansas and graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Asbury School of Nursing. Salina, Kansas in 1959.  She received her first Bachelor’s Degree in Dickinson, North Dakota and subsequent Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing from Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. 

Lytle Gene Cross, 83, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, died on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the Wilson Care Center in Wilson, Kansas.  Lytle was born on January 29, 1937, in Lyons, Kansas, the son of Marlin and Esther (Kraus) Cross.  He grew up in rural Russell County, Kansas, and graduated from Russell High School.  He met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Charlotte Burns on May 31, 1958 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell.  From this union they were blessed with a son Lyle.  For much of his adult life, he co-owned and worked at Cross

Richard Keith Howe, 91, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Homestead Assistant Living Facility of Russell. Keith was born on December 22, 1928 to Aaron R. Howe and Ann (Walley) Howe in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He was an only child. He grew up and attended school in Kingfisher until his family moved to Wichita during his 8th grade summer. Keith graduated from North High School in Wichita, Kansas with the class of 1946. He attended Oklahoma A & M now Oklahoma State where he played baseball. Ruth E. Bartlett, 93, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Main Street Manor in Russell. Ruth was born on September 04, 1927, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Allen Ray and Jessie (Herron) Scott.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Myron Keith Bartlett on January 11, 1948, in Russell, Kansas.  From this union they were blessed with three children Lonnie, Terri and Traci.  As a teenager she worked as a soda shop server at Dawson’s Pharmacy and for Home

LaJune Joyce Gustin (Michaelis), 87, died on December 17,2020 due to  complications from a recent stroke. LaJune was born on April 07, 1933 in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Huldrich and Sarah (Deines) Michaelis. She grew up and attended school in rural Russell County. After grade school she helped with the family farm and worked at a local jewelry store in Russell, KS. Later in life, while raising a family and working full time, she committed the time and effort to obtain her GED. Marvin Eugene Mader, 81, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Marvin was born on April 18, 1939, in Grainfield, Kansas, the son of Raymond and Helen (Dreher) Mader.  He grew up in Russell, Kansas, and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1957.  He attended college at Kansas University, Emporia State University, Ft. Hays State University and Iowa State University achieving a master’s degree in English.  He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Vicky Sue Landis on May 12, 1959, in Russell.  From

Naomi Kathryn Strecker, 88, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. Naomi was born on February 12, 1932, on the family farm in rural Sylvan Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Harm and Laura (Hopfer) Gerdes.  She grew up in Sylvan Grove and graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in the class of 1950.   After high school, she graduated with an associate’s degree in business from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Marvin R. John Russell “Russ” Reynolds, 80, of Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, December 08, 2020, at the Willow House in Hays, Kansas. Russ was born on April 02, 1940, in Stockton, Kansas, the son of John William and Edna Marie (Hamit) Reynolds.  He grew up in Stockton until he was in the 8th grade and at that time he moved with his family to Natoma, Kansas, where he attended Natoma High School.  He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Marthana R. Lloyd Leroy Snook, 72, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at his residence. Leroy was born on Friday, February 13, 1948, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Oscar M. and Beulah (Burke) Snook.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1966.  He then attended a tech school. Leroy served his country in the U.S. Navy performing his boot camp in San Diego, California in 1967.  He served on the attack aircraft carrier USS Constellation CVA-64 as an electrician from 1968 to 1971.  He had 3 combat cruises in Vietnam

Evelyn Margaret (Echols) Davis, 97, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Russell Regional Hospital. Evelyn was born September 28, 1923 in Frisco, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of John and Florence (Bedwell) Echols.  She grew up on a farm near Frisco, and attended country schools in the Stonewall and Ada, Oklahoma area. Evelyn was united in marriage to Lloyd Davis on January 12, 1940 in Coalgate, Oklahoma.  This union was blessed with three children; Ruth Ann, Ron and Jim.  Lloyd worked for Halliburton and the family moved around following his work.  They lived in Oklahoma
