Michael Allan Rogers, 72, of Russell, Kansas, and former Aurora, Colorado resident died on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Mike was born on September 11, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of James E. and Margaret R. Schneider, 83, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.  Donna was born on June 05, 1936, in Bazine, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob and Martha (Voos) Strecker.  She grew up in Russell, Kansas and graduated from Russell high school.  She was married to Marvin E. Schneider.  Later she and Marvin were divorced.  Donna was blessed with eight children Kevin, Keven, Marvonna, Murray, Darren, Kirby, Denna and Shawn.  She was a fulltime homemaker taking care of her growing family.  She was a longtime active member of St. John Lutheran

Errol Lynn Maranville, 71, of Waldo, Kansas, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Lynn was born on August 31, 1948, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Chester E. and Bessie M. (Scott) Maranville.  He grew up in Russell until age 12 and moved to Denver, Colorado.  He graduated from Washington High School in Denver in the class of 1965. Thomas J. Hutchinson, 87, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, Kansas. Tom was born February 7, 1933 in Russell, the son of Thomas Joseph and Frieda (Behrendt) Hutchinson.  He attended elementary school at Duffy country school and Waldo Grade school.  He attended his freshman and sophomore year at Waldo High School before his family moved to a farm south of Paradise, Kansas.  He graduated from Paradise High School in the Class of 1952. Russell “Rusty” C. Williams, III, 62, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, February 05, 2020, at the Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, Arizona, while living in Arizona. Rusty was born on August 02, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Russell C., Jr. and Gail (Sack) Williams.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1975, and after high school attended Ft. Dale Leon Pruter, 64, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at his residence in Dundee, Kansas. Dale is the oldest son of Orville and Betty (Zweifel) Pruter of Natoma, Kansas.  He was born January 19, 1956 at the Plainville Hospital.  Later he was joined by four more brothers and sister.  He went to school in Plainville, and graduated from Plainville High School with the Class of 1974. Dale served his country in the U. S. Marines. Dale was united in marriage to Jane Thummel at the Church of the Nazarene in Plainville on November 24, 1979. 

Rita “Rat”  Gaye (Atwood) Reynolds, 78, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, February 1, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Rita was born November 3, 1941 in Great Bend, Kansas.  She was one of three daughters born to Clarence W. and Marie R. (Pozalek) Atwood.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1959.  She has lived most all of her life in the Russell area. James “Jim” Kenneth Madsen, 66, of Russell, Kansas, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. Jim was born on September 15, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Kenny and Louise (Rogers) Madsen.  He grew up on the family farm in West Branch, Iowa and attended high school there.  Jim graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business.  He was united in marriage to Katrin Kolder, DVM on September 1, 1990 in West Branch, Iowa.  They divorced in 2013, but continued to breed Red Angus cattle and raise

Gil Carreiro Chambray, 79, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, at the age of 79. He was born on October 14, 1940 in the city of Arrifes, St. Miguel, Acores, Portugal.  He was the fifth child born to Maria Moniz and Antonio Carriero.  Gil moved from the Acores to Bermuda in 1949.  He attended school for a short time only as most Portuguese boys were sent to work at a very young age.  He worked at a rock quarry cutting slate stone from the ages of 11 – 17.  He then apprenticed at the Bermuda Electric

Judith (Letsch) Echer, 70, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at Main Street Manor in Russell, Kansas. Judith was born July 20, 1949 in Russell.  She was one of four daughters born to Don L. and Isabel (Duvall) Letsch.  Judith grew up in Bunker Hill and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of ’67.  She lived and worked in Wichita for twenty years before returning to the Bunker Hill community.
